The Printed Garden – Workshops
Community project with Jenny Peterson
Create nature prints on paper using botanical specimens of the Wimmera. Your tutor Jenny Peterson will facilitate FREE workshops in Horsham for artists, gardeners and community members to explore their backyard and their creative side. If you can – prepare pieces ahead of me by drying them flat between absorbent paper and boards (grasses, leaves, flowers, herbs) until they are leathery & flexible rather than brittle. Specimens are also provided and we share what is brought along. All materials will be provided, including A4 paper.
Choose from 6 half-day Workshops over 3 days in October: Tues 15th, Monday 21st, Friday 25th at Federation University Horsham in the Grampians Building Room M73 (enter from Baillie St).
Sessions will be:
- Morning 9.30 – 12.00
- Afternoon 1.00 – 3.30
Nature printing is a very old technique working directly with plants and ink, & was used to identify medicinal plants. In contemporary mes it is a simple technique to explore our surroundings – no art experience required. The project will ask to borrow the prints you make for display at The Goat Gallery in Natimuk. The exhibition can be viewed and will ‘grow’ over the three weeks from 15 October and ready to launch as part of the Nati Frinj Biennale.
Please join us at the Opening Celebration of Printed Garden on Friday 1 November, 7.30 pm at The Goat Gallery, 87A Main St, Natimuk. The exhibition continues until 4 Nov, 2019.
